‘It’s More Than Just Sneakers’ Brisbane 2017 Recap
Yesterday’s ‘It’s More Than Just Sneakers‘ (IMTJS) event, hosted by our good friends at The Kickz Stand, contained all sorts of emotions for the local Brisbane sneakerheads. The event tour made its second stop in the sunny state, Queensland, to serve up the IMTJS experience.
This meet, in particular, was a bit more special to us here at DopeKoto. As you may know, Brisbane is our home city and where we started out, with much of our team still based here. So needless to say, it meant a lot more when the local members of the sneaker community stopped by our stall to greet us and introduce themselves. What was particularly heartwarming, however, was those who showed us their appreciation of our content. Trust me; the positive feedback is a real blessing and motivation to continue our mission. So thank you, boys and girls of the #DopeKoto familia!
The meet kicked off at 11 am sharp, unable to hold back the 90-deep queue along Maclachlan Street, Fortitude Valley. It was, without a doubt, bigger than the last IMTJS meet in Adelaide, with 32 vendors present at the Cupo function room. Over 400 people came through the doors in hopes to soak up the atmosphere and perhaps bring home a coveted pair, or snatch some streetwear or collectables. With stock from local labels through Jordans, to Supreme x Louis Vuitton and Bape, there was bound to be something for everyone. If that didn’t grab your attention, then there was also free Li Ning socks, free SF magazines and the raffle provided by the good people at Asics Tiger, Sneaker Freaker, Limited Edt, Hype DC, Sunlight Station, Spindrift Clothing, Motley Street and Stored.
The lineup of vendors consisted of the familiar and new. Vendors like Saint Side, Humble Home, Kickstw, Stored, GC Sneakerheads, Xclsve, LaceSpace, GystForKicks, and of course individuals of the sneaker community provided plenty of goodies for visitors. We also released two new camo and grey snapbacks this weekend and were pleased to see the popularity of the caps at the meet. You can get yours now via our online shop!
In the food department, our friends at Ben’s Burger offered up attendees a dope meal deal that no one could refuse, which flooded their Fortitude Valley joint with a sea of sneakerheads.
After a great day together, we bid our farewells to one another and went home looking forward to the next IMTJS event which is just around the corner in The Kickz Stand’s home city, Sydney.
A big shoutout to all the sponsors, attendees, vendors and of course — The Kickz Stand, for making the event possible! If you missed out, don’t sweat it, Sydney is next up! Also to you heads who got on our Snapchat filter on the day, send them through via Instagram, email or Facebook, we’d love to see what you all captured on the day.
As always, we’ve got some great content coming. Stay tuned for our ‘Top 10’ heat on feet later this week and our video recap. In the meantime, enjoy some of the photos from the day or watch some of our previous coverage and don’t forget to sign up to our newsletter to keep track of the posts as they get off the press.
