The adidas Consortium World Tour returns to Europe and makes a stop at Milan’s highly-regarded Slam Jam. Following the minimalist rendition of the classic Stan Smith by JUICE, Slam Jam opts to maintain the same minimalism on a newer adidas model. The Tubular Nova.

For this consortium release, Slam Jam pays tribute to their roots in Ferrara — where the brand was founded. With their home city listed as world heritage and retail presence in one of Europe’s leading fashion capitals, Slam Jam brings together the old and the new. The standard practice is to take a classic and mould to a contemporary style as other collaborators have. They did the exact opposite. Distressing and ageing the new Tubular Nova, a model first released in 2016.

The Novas first appear fitting to the other Consortium releases but upon closer inspection, the Nova reveals much more. Presented in a pale beige colourway, the upper consists of a muslin base, together with a premium leather mudguard, side cage and tongue strap. Furthermore, the shoe is deliberately creased and sits on top of a tonal Tubular tooling achieving the intended Renaissance vibe.  Finally, the Tubular Nova is finished by donning the Slam Jam logo on the suede heel strap, to deliver a killer shoe.

Release is set for June 29 9:00 (CEST) over at Slam Jam Socialism!
