RECAP: Sneaker Freaker Swap Meet May 2016
Last weekend, a few of the boys from the DopeKoto squad were down at Sneaker Freaker’s first swap meet of the year, together with other sneakerheads who travelled near and far to Port Melbourne. It was a joyous day celebrating the sub-culture with delicious food, hip-hop vibes, and of course gorgeous sneakers.
Held at the Globe Warehouse, the swap meet was a central hub for some serious heat transactions — I mean I personally saw a Solebox x New Balance M1500GGB go for an apt price and I have to say it was a magical moment. Sneakerheads that were around to witness all applauded left, right, and centre. It’s the little things like these that make the Sneaker Freaker swap meet a special occasion.
Several vendors of the sneaker game made an appearance showing us what Australia has to offer to the sneaker and streetwear scene. And not to mention the boys and girls who showed up in some seriously sought-after kicks. Despite the high anticipation for an overpopulation of NMDs, Ultra Boosts, and Yeezys; the swap meet still had a strong showing of O.G. trainers and classic Jordans.
With banger music playing for the whole day, I got to enjoy some juicy single-bone chicken wings from the Gorilla Grill truck and Kim Chi fries as well. Finally finishing off with even more deals towards the end of the day.
To the crew at Sneaker Freaker, thanks for another good swap meet filled with good vibes and dope as sneakers! Can’t wait for the next one!
