Swedish brand Sneakersnstuff (SNS) is about to drop their new collaboration with adidas Originals, the ‘Swedish Satellite Pack’!  The collection is inspired by the 1966 space program, Gemini X.  During his spacewalk, an astronaut by the name Michael Collins had lost his Hasselblad camera; a Swedish camera manufacturer that has collaborated with NASA for over 50 years.  This lost camera is probably still circulating in space and has since been named the Swedish Satellite.  This meticulously thought-out concept has led to 3 silhouettes of adidas Originals receiving the special treatment.  The all-time great Stan Smith, the classic Superstar and the trending Tubular Runner.

 The ‘Spacesuit’ – Stan Smith

The Stan Smith silhouette is presented with a matte silver upper that resembles movie-inspired spacesuits and a velcro Stan Smith patch with USA colours commonly found in logos such as the NBA or MLB on the tongue.  The classic Stan Smith triple-striped mid features star-shaped perforations and each heel counter receives a national flag of America on the left and Sweden on the right, symbolising the collaboration between NASA and Hasselblad.  Very much like Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Neutral’ Ventilators, I like it!

The ‘Camera’ – Superstar

The classic Superstar silhouette receives a black tumbled leather upper commonly used on camera accessories back in the day.  The outside quarter features a lateral f/stop and zoom dial found on cameras with a distinct focal length 38mm marked on the side.  You’ll probably be guessing these figures came from a camera, and you’re right.  These details came from the lens of the Hasselblad camera lost during that Gemini X mission.  The triple stripes and heel tab uses a lens rubber grip inspired pattern to highlight.  To top off the design, SNS have used a silver lining to match with the spacesuit theme.

The ‘Starry’ – Tubular Runner

The collection isn’t just for people who are into the OG adidas Originals range.  No, not at all!  The Tubular Runner also gets some of the collaboration therapy.  With an all-black upper featuring open mesh and suede elements, this pair is inspired by the stars from outer space.  What appears to be subtle stars are not so subtle, especially when you view these sneakers in a dark room with nothing but a flash from a camera; you will be amazed at what you will find.
