It’s been a minute since we’ve featured an artist on our website, in fact, too long. But it’s safe to say we don’t feature many artists, and when we do, they have some real talent behind them as well as something anomalous about them. So without further ado, I present to you an artist who has a fashion sense and unique take on things her name — Marinella Pulitano a.k.a. Maza.
Tell us a bit about yourself? The basics of what you do?
I’m Marinella; I go by Maza though… less syllables. I’m a UX/UI/Graphic designer and streetwear model.
You’re a UX/UI and graphic designer, but also a model for streetwear. Would you say a lot of the design work is influenced by the clothing you wear and vice versa?
To me possessions are temporal. They perish, spoil, and fade – and most of them, (funnily enough) by design. The clothing I wear may briefly impress, but it could never influence my design decisions and vice versa.

Where do you get constant inspiration to create?
I think inspiration is just a curious idea. The number of influences that can affect the nature and creativity of my work is countless, and to pinpoint a true inspiration is difficult, to say the least.

What’s your biggest project or one that you are super proud of in both design and modelling?
I’ve been the Head of Design at Hey You for two years. Hey You is an App which links to your credit card and helps you find nearby restaurants, order coffee and food — Even have it delivered to you — without having to wait in a line or pull out your wallet. Without a doubt, I’m incredibly proud of the sleepless nights, long hours and tears (mostly tears) that I put into the interface and user experience of the App.
As for modelling, I’d have to say working with the creative team behind Hype DC has been the most memorable. Not only do I get to represent a brand that feels authentically me, but I also got to create beautiful content with like-minded individuals… I’ve learnt a lot of things from those guys.
How would you describe your street style?
Growing up, I was heavily influenced by my older brother and boyfriend. I’m at the point where I’ve totally inherited their styles; Torn between oversized comfort and athletic Tomboy.

What’s your favourite pair of sneakers?
I never understood what it felt like to be a sneakerhead until I tried on my first pair of white Nike Air Huarache Ultras!
Where do you hope to be in the future?
My goal in life right now is to be happy. Genuinely, intensely and consistently happy, regardless of what that looks like to others.
