The Northern Beaches of NSW are a picturesque mix of lush green forests, perfect beaches, rolling waves, and supremely chilled vibes that became the birthplace of Gratis Minds.

A collaboration of Jon Doe and Tay D producing catchy hooks and displaying their lyricism along Jay Orient’s wavy production that borrows some aspects of boom bap. Gratis Minds became the collective of these 3 easy-going super talented boys from the Cabarita Beach area and now they bring their fresh sound to the ever-changing landscape in a big way with their new single titled ‘Bownsi’.

Mixed and Mastered by Brisbane-based James Angus, ‘Bownsi’ has infectious off beat drums matched with a mellow-synth-based melody. Topped off with a catchy hook that’s been stuck in my head for the past week or so ‘Bownsi’ offers a refreshing sound that differs from their earlier work. The track clearly shows their development as artists both individually and as a collective who are well on the way to finding their own sound.

Recent times saw the group drop their début EP which was (personally for me) seen as a very underrated project and this follow-up single is definitive proof that they’re something special on the rise.
