I first heard Chance The Rapper on his ’10-day’ mixtape, a simple project of his recorded during a high school suspension. This exciting new sound immediately caught some of my attention but for me personally it was his ‘Acid Rap’ project that sparked my interest in his music and style.

Individuality and a sense of self reign supreme through the majority of Chance’s projects and he has continued to push the boundaries of his music. Sounds ranging from the trippy, mellow ‘Acid Rap’ to his most recent offering, ‘Colouring Book’. Colouring book mixes in some gospel undertones on several tracks and takes Chance’s sound in a very different direction. Chance takes you on a journey with each track and offers pieces of real life insight into his home city of Chicago, one that while boasting a huge emerging music scene unfortunately suffers some of the highest rates of gun crime in the United States.

Chance by all means could be considered one of today’s most sought after collaborators and continues to add big names to his feature list. The 23 year old is finally making the trip to Australia for a pair of Headline shows (SYD & MELB) along with 2 festival dates at Beyond The Valley and Field Day.

Catch Chance at the shows below and witness one of the most transcendent artists to grace the hip-hop genre in recent years.
