Stand Against Lock-Out Laws: Brisbane’s Big Kick On
Come July 1st, the well reported and much maligned Lockout Laws will hit Brisbane. Before these dreaded protocols kick in and ruin Brisbane’s nightlife, there is one last party to voice our disapproval.
Brisbane’s ‘Big Kick On’, a joint effort between the folks at Bedlam Records, The Music, Sailor Jerry, The Brightside, Black Bear Lodge, The Flying Cock, and The Foundry — is tipped to be a big night out stretching across multiple venues in the Valley precinct.
The lineup includes friends of DopeKoto, such as Erik Sanders and Midas.Gold; who are performing together with Gallus, along with the likes of Baskervillain, The Jensens, Twin Haus, Carmouflage Rose, Golden Vessel, Lastlings, and Romy to name only a few. The amount of venues and range of artists ensures that there will be something for everyone’s liking, so why not go and discover some of Brisbane city’s hidden talents.
To top it off, entry to all four participating venues on the night will be absolutely free, simply by signing an anti-lockout law petition at the door. Brisbane’s local music scene’s survival depends on the late-night trading, and the lockout laws could prove to be a death sentence. If you refer to Sydney and how it has coped with similar even less harsh laws it becomes apparent that fighting these laws is a must.
So come and stand together against these laws and treat yourself to a massive night out whilst discovering some of Brisbane’s very best.
